Kodiyala Sarees: The Decline of a Karnataka Weaving Tradition
Once a thriving weaving hub in Mandya district, Kodiyala sarees were known for their sturdy cotton and everyday elegance. Today, the looms of Kodiyala have fallen silent, with only a few families preserving fragments of the craft. Many of these weavers migrated to Kollur and later to Bangalore, where their skills survive in small clusters. This report traces the decline of Kodiyala handloom and its continued legacy through weavers now working with Seven Sarees.
