Mangalagiri is a town in the beautiful Indian State- Andhra Pradesh. Famous for their unique pattern handloom silk cotton and pure cotton sarees that are available only here, Mangalgiri sarees are protected as a geographical indicator. Recognised world over for this unique pattern on pit looms, on close observation one can easily spot the tight weaving and the pretty weave play that is possible only in handlooms. This kind of weaving allows the weavers to experiment easily with missing checks or missing stripe designs which makes this saree so unique and beautiful.

Disclaimer

This style is made by hand on a pit loom making it an original handloom item. You will therefore see small holes across both ends of the saree which signify the fabric being held tightly while the weaver creates it. This is the beauty of this saree and not a defect.
